Reiki healing has been around since the turn of the 20th century when it was founded in Japan by Dr Usui.
Healing itself has been around for thousands of years, with many examples of hands on healing through the ages.
The practice of Reiki requires that the healer connects themselves to the universal energy (Reiki). Then by placing their hands on the recipient, the healer channels this energy into the different places it is needed.
A set of hand placings is often used, starting from the head, moving down the body to the feet.
Reiki is generally received with the recipient lying down but it can also be given when you are sat upright or can be given by distance healing. Distance Reiki enables a recipient to receive Reiki energy even when they are not in the same room.
The person receiving the Reiki does not have to do anything apart from relax! This is one of the reasons why it is so good for stress management.
Being able to lie down for an hour without doing anything really helps the receiver to unwind. And of course you receive all the Reiki healing benefits as well.
The person receiving also does not have to have any opinions about Reiki healing. You don’t have to believe it, understand it or like it. Obviously this helps but will not change the benefits you will receive.
