Sleeping problems? Well, the next 7 tips should put you on the way to having a really relaxing and peaceful sleep.
Sleep problems and insomnia affect a wide range of people. And when you can’t sleep your stress levels increase. The body and mind are not rested so you can be quicker to anger or get irritated or stressed.
Seven Tips To Improve Sleeping Problems
1. Stay off caffeine
Most people know that caffeine keeps you awake but did you know that chocolate also contains caffeine? So having a hot chocolate might keep you awake rather than help you to sleep. Reducing your intake of caffeine is a great way of helping you to sleep.
2. Eat at least 2 hours before sleeping
Having a heavy and bloated stomach in bed can keep you awake. If your stomach feels uncomfortable in bed this could signal a sleepless night. Eat a light meal at least 2 hours before bed time to avoid having a sleepless night.
3. Watching or listening to relaxing sleep videos
Although I don’t recommend watching TV before going to bed as this stimulates the mind I do recommend watching the below video.
The below video has helped many people to fall asleep and have a good night’s rest. It’s only 5 minutes long and worth a watch if it will help you sleep.
4. Have a twilight hour
Have an hour before you go to bed where you don’t do lots of exciting and stimulating things. Prepare yourself for bed by unwinding, turning the TV and other electrical gadgets off, reading a relaxing book or having a calming bath.
5. Drink hot milk or chamomile tea
These 2 drinks are very relaxing and soothing. They will help you to unwind and prepare you for sleep. Chamomile has been used for many years as a herbal remedy for sleeping problems.
6. Put a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow
Lavender oil on your pillow will release essential oils to soothe the mind and relax the body. If you don’t have any lavender oil then find a lavender plant and use some of the flowers in a cotton bag under your pillow.
Do you have a favourite place or holiday destination? Imagine yourself in this location as you lie in your bed. Imagine wandering along in your mind, feeling the sensations that go along with it: sights, smells, sounds and relax. This is not a thinking exercise about what you did but about going to a location that you love and relaxing there.
